Adoption Coordinator

Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director, the Adoption Coordinator is responsible for assisting adoptive parents throughout the adoption process, including screening expectant parents, facilitating matches, taking relinquishments, providing post-adoption support and consultation, supervising staff, leading educational groups and doing community outreach. The Coordinator understands and assists in meeting budget and services goals, understands the mission and objectives of Jewish Family and Childrens Services and works within the limitations of the Agencys resources.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. As Adoption Case Manager, facilitates all aspects of individual open adoptions from initial connection through the relinquishment process with adoptive clients and birthparents. This includes working with cooperative agencies and legal and other professionals throughout the United States.
2. Screens and counsels pregnant women considering adoption.
3. Provides initial information, educational support and ongoing supportive counseling to adoptive parents throughout their adoption process. Provides consultation and referrals for adoptive parents regarding parenting issues
4. Creates and fosters cooperative relationships with local social service agencies and conducts marketing and outreach activities to partners and community members in Northern California. Represents the agency in the larger community for public speaking, workshop, and development event.
5. Supervises the work of caseworkers throughout Northern California, providing administrative and clinical support. Reads and edits home studies and provides consultation to caseworkers as needed.
6. Plans and facilitates educational groups, workshops, conferences and other special events as needed.
7. Shares on-call duties responsible for evening hours and on-call every other weekend. Responds to requests for immediate hospital placements by providing onsite services at hospitals throughout the service area.
8. Prepares written reports, and prepares and files documents in compliance with California state law.
9. Works to meet budget and services goals as established in agency work plan and budget,
10. Meets all agency standards for performance, following agency policies and procedures.
11. Other tasks as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
MSW or equivalent degree, license preferred.
Significant clinical experience in the field of adoption.
Skilled in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel and Outlook)
Excellent writing skills.
Enjoys a fast paced and ever changing work environment with competing demands.
Availability to work on-call evening and weekends
Some travel required, automobile and current CDL required.
Knowledge of and experience in adoption practices
Knowledge of adoption related resources and services within the general community
Personal experience in parenting and adoption preferred.
Exceptional ability to work independently and as part of a team

This is a full time, salaried exempt position with benefits.
