Parenthesis Family Center is a grass roots agency which began in 1980 by two moms completing their graduate work at Erikson Institute for Child Development in Chicago. Their "parent thesis" became Parenthesis. Originally focused on Morning Program, Parenthesis quickly evolved to serve emerging needs of area families. The majority of Parenthesis funding, as well as coutnless volunteer hours, comes from members of the community.
